Mortgage Architects, a leading originator of insurable mortgages in Canada, and its parent company, lender myNext Mortgage, decided to review strategic options when their abililty to fund mortgages in the securitization market was dramatically curtailed in 2009. Alexander Capital was retained by the controlling parties to undertake a value maximization process for shareholders and it was concluded that a sale of the businesses was the best option. Alexander Capital orchestrated a competitive sale process from which Pacific NA emerged as a strong buyer with ambitious plans to build the business. Alexander Capital negotiated detailed terms of the sale on a timely basis, permitting a smooth transition of ownership on attractive terms.
